REMEMBERING ROB …… A Themed Night of Scottish and 1960s Music REMEMBERING ROB …… A Themed Night of Scottish and 1960s Music

Admission: £5.00

Time: 8.00 p.m.

Location: Saint James' Rooms

We start 2026 with a themed night of music in loving and fond memory of that wonderful man Rob Hepburn, who died in December 2024. Rob hailed from Annan in Dumfriesshire and loved the music of the folk revival of the 1960s and frequently performed songs from that era at Raising the Rafters
So there’s a double theme to tonight ! Bring along your Scottish songs or music, or your music from the 1960s, the heady days of the Folk Revival …. Or just come along and listen. It’s going to be a fantastic night of music and words.
We will be raising money this month for a charity close to Rob’s heart, the BRITISH RED CROSS.

Admission: £5.00

Time: 8.00 p.m.

Location: Saint James' Rooms

It’s not advisable to say the name of this month’s band if you’re short- tongued ! We were going to call them “Six of the Best” but that might sound a bit kinky! Whacko!
The six are three of the regular couples (as opposed to the irregular couples) from one of Sheffield’s oldest established folk clubs, the wonderful Booitstraps at Chapeltown! Jim Marshall & Maggie, Ann & Chas and the inimitable Kieron and Mandy.
Expect something very different tonight!

THE VALLEY BAND THE VALLEY BAND

Admission: £5.00

Time: 8.00 p.m.

Location: Saint James' Rooms

The Who? No, not The Who, the Valley Band ! Never heard of them? Yes you have - only they change their name about as frequently as Hugo changes his underwear, which, frankly, is not very often. But you might remember them under their recent name of Los Piranhas….. or as Common Ground ….? They blew us away last year with their guest night (some highlights are on our YouTube channel) and we just booked them again straight away! Folk from all genres on melodeon, guitar, keyboard, piano accordion and fiddle. And they have great fun as well which is infectious. Mind you, so is Diphtheria. Don’t miss them!

THE HUNCH Supported by JACK’S RAKE THE HUNCH Supported by JACK’S RAKE

Admission: £10.00 / £12.00

Time: 8.00 p.m.

Location: Saint James' Rooms

We are proud to present the live concert to end all live concerts this month as part of the Wath May Festival. Hosting their prestigious Saturday Night Concert, this year Raising the Rafters are proud to present not one, but two amazing bands……
JACKS RAKE is a five piece band of multi instrumentalists playing high octane music with a strong Irish influence. They last appeared at Rafters in November 2025 and utterly blew us away - you can see a clip of one of their numbers on our You Tube Channel. This alone would be a night to remember …… but there’s more …..
THE HUNCH are five musicians at the top of their game ….. seasoned musicians with years of experience from such well known bands as Kitsyke Will, Hedgehog Pie and The Mighty Doonans.
Featuring MICK DOONAN, BOB THOMAS, CHRIS HANKS, TONY BACON and MARCUS FROST they headlined our last Festival Concert in 2025 and we were besieged with requests to being them back…… so here they are……. you can’t get enough of a good thing.
Entry for this concert (no floor singers at this one) will be £12 on the door, but a very limited number of Early Bird Tickets will be on sale at £10 + booking fee from www.wegottickets.com after 1st January 2026. Grab one while you can and guarantee a seat with your name on it (providing your name is “IKEA KUMFICHAIR”)
The profit we make on this night keeps Raising the Rafters going for another year - so please support it if you can!
