This month, Raising the Rafters is doing what it does best …. Raising money for charity with a Singers Night featuring its talented posse of singers, musicians and wordsmiths.
No need to book a floor spot - just turn up and and play, read or sing ….. or if you don’t do any of those things then just come along and enjoy a night of live music, verse and fun - and all for just a fiver!
And of course, there will be our famous NAFFLE (a Naff Raffle), and our CD/DVD/Book Stall .

John has been a supporter of Raising the Rafters for years and it’s great that he’s coming to be our guest of the month in September. He covers all genres of music from Paul Weller to Reg Meuross and all points in between!
At John’s request, everything raised at the club will be donated to the charity “Action For Children”.

It’s our “overflow” folk club giving a bigger and better platform to our large band of singers, musicians, poets and wordsmiths. Come along and you will be guaranteed a floor spot - you don’t have to book ……. But dont worry if you don’t sing, play or read - it’s an excellent night of music and fun and there’s no pressure to perform. Live music and entertainment at its best!This club puts the emphasis on music rather than fundraising, but any profit we do make on the night will go to the charity of the month.
It’s a fantastic night of live entertainment - three hours of live music for only £3 …… it just doesn’t get any better !

Singer, Songwriter, Playwright and Composer Alan Wood has a guitar style that is all his own and has made a name for himself at music venues throughout the North.
He doesn’t just limit himself to performing in folk clubs - he is the musical mastermind behind the highly acclaimed musical documentary “Remember The Coal” which has played to audiences throughout the North of England and South Wales.
Alan has requested that all funds raised at the club be donated to BARNSLEY HOSPICE.
